Come see Neil as Escamillo in Carmen, March 3rd and 5th as Skip Viragh Center for the Arts at Chaminade.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica bass baritone Neil Nelson moved to the United States with his family at the
age of 2, settling Queens, New York. It has been said by colleagues and critics alike, that Mr. Nelson possesses one of the purest and most resonant bass baritone voice of recent times. An excellent musician and linguist, Mr. Nelson graduated from The New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in music performance. Winning awards such as the Stephen Shrestinian Award for Excellence (Boston Lyric Opera), the Heinz Refuss Singing Actors Award (Orlando Opera), and appearing as a finalist in the New York Metropolitan Opera Auditions launched him into his professional career. Mr. Nelson has performed operatic roles with Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Berkshire Opera, Orlando Opera, The New York Harlem Opera Theater and the Tartar State Opera Theater in Kazan, Russia. Although opera is his first love, Neil has a passion for oratorio and concert stage. He has appeared as a soloist with ensembles such as the Lynn Conservatory Orchestra, the Ocean City Pops, the Southwest Florida Symphony, and the New England Conservatory Orchestra. Future engagements include Schaunard in La Boheme with Opera Naples and Jake in Porgy and Bess with the Tatar State Opera Theater in the Chaliapin Music Festival in Kazan, Russia. Mr. Nelson resides in South Florida with his wife and 4-year-old daughter. When he is not singing, Neil can be found having fun with his family, fishing, or working with young men in his community as a mentor and a football coach.

Come see Robert as Zuniga in Carmen, March 3rd and 5th

American bass-baritone Robert McNichols Jr. has been making a name for himself as an “artist worthy of being noticed” (The Kansas City Star, 2010). He began the 2017 season as the Emcee for Opera Theatre of St. Louis’ community concert tour, Opera Tastings. and as the Narrator for The Lincoln Portraits with the St. Louis symphony. Mr. McNichols ended 2016 with being selected as an Regional Arts Commission Fellowship Artist Grant recipient. Another highlight of 2016 performance was singing Chucho in Lucrezia with St. Louis’ Gateway Opera, for which he was acclaimed for having a “booming bass” (Ladue News) that’s “rich and powerful” (Broadway World). He has also been proving himself to be a versatile performer through show-stopping performances as the Narrator in the Afro-punk-rock musical Passing Strange at the Edison Theatre (St. Louis) and Fred Graham/Petruchio in Kiss Me, Kate with Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre (Kansas City, MO). Upcoming performances for Mr. McNichols include a collaboration with the St. Louis Black Repertory Theatre company as part of their New Works Forum in the month of March.

We are reaching out to our neighbors in The Hill - we have a wonderful artist coming into town for Carmen who needs housing. He is new the the States, and doesn't have a license. We are hoping to find a host here in the neighborhood so Aleksander can walk to rehearsals.

If you would like to house our artist or If you don't live in The Hill but would love to house him, please give us a call or private message us.

Thank you in advance for all your support!
