Fanciulla del West by Giacomo Puccini

Winter Opera St. Louis’ final production of Season 13 is just 10 days away! Debuting for the first time in St. Louis, Puccini’s wild west opera is considered a magnum opus, especially for its melodic score and impressive orchestration. The opening night’s conductor in 1910 called it a “great symphonic poem.”

Set in gold mining era California, the story includes rough outlaws, rowdy miners, and the ‘take no flack’ Minnie, owner of the local saloon. When bandit Dick Johnson rides into town, things get hairy between Johnson and Sheriff Jack Rance, with Minnie stuck right in the middle.

Join us March 6th at 7:30 or March 8th at 3:00pm at the Skip Viragh Center for the Arts at Chaminade for an evening of drama, love, and symphonic beauty.
