A Note from Winter Opera

Dear friends,

We hope this finds you all in good health and good spirits. As you know, our Alterations & Costume Shop has been busy the last few weeks making washable, reusable face masks for the community. Thanks to Nancy Pillsbury’s generous donation, we sent out over 700 masks to our Winter Opera Season 13 ticket holders and donors as a thank you for your support throughout our 13th season. We have also sent many masks to individuals purchasing masks for their everyday use, as well as home health care facilities, schools, clinics, and essential workers. Many of you are purchasing masks and sending them on to loved ones in other states, neighbors in need, and your local first responders. Not only has this project kept us busy, but it has given us a sense of purpose and fulfillment during this uncertain time, reminding us how important our community is to our organization and its mission.

Our hearts are full with the love and kindness we have received from our patrons. Sweet notes and words of encouragement through emails, phone calls, and letters have brightened our days, and we have loved the pictures we’ve received of you modeling your stylish masks – thank you for reaching out to us! Each kind message has reminded us how thankful we are to have found a way to utilize our organization to care for our community who has cared and supported us over the years.

The #VirtualOperaChallenge we started last month has brought some fun interactions with singers from past performances – arias from sopranos, tenors, and baritones are filling our social media walls as well as photos from our performance archives. Follow us on facebook and instagram to join in or test your Winter Opera knowledge with our new bingo game!

We look forward to seeing you soon when things improve and we can celebrate together.

Stay well, be safe, and enjoy opera!
